Five things to settle before you sign
- Register your agent on visit oneMany builders require your agent to be with you (or registered) at your first visit to the sales center.
- Get every fee in writingHOA, CDD or stewardship district, club dues and any capital contribution. Compare total monthly cost, not just price.
- Price the incentive, not the adClosing-cost help or a rate buydown often requires the builder's lender. Ask what the same money is worth as a price reduction.
- Lot premiums & optionsLake, preserve and golf lots cost more, and so do design-studio upgrades. Budget for both.
- InspectionsHire your own inspector pre-drywall and before closing, and again before the 1-year warranty ends.
